Academic and Training Affairs

MISSION

To provide quality, evidence based cost-effective education to DSFH staff and external customers in order to:

- enhance the quality of clinical practice and promote excellence in the delivery of healthcare

- foster professional growth

- stimulate intellectual curiosity

- improve patient outcomes

- build organizational capability

This mission is addressed thorough the provision of seminars, workshops, review courses, symposia, conferences, meetings, lecture series, and grand rounds.

PHILOSOPHY

Our philosophy is to optimize health services, practices, and outcomes through excellence in innovation and realization of continuing professional education activities and effective knowledge translation strategies for physicians , health care professionals and community as well .

OBJECTIVES
Act as a resource for facilitating a continuum of medical learning.
Determine the educational needs of physicians and health care givers.
Provide programs of high educational quality to allow physicians and patients to improve their knowledge base and skills,

Thus allowing physicians to maintain or upgrade their level of medical competence.
Enhance physician and health care givers’ performance and thereby improve the health care of people.



ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The department reports to the CEO of DSFH.
Academic and training affairs department has different sections:

Section I: It is concerned with conferences, symposia, workshops and guest lectures. It is responsible for the announcements, registration, coordination and direction within the framework of the DSFH’s rules and regulations. At the beginning of each year, the academic calendar is displayed in the intranet portal and in the hospital’s website.

Section II: It includes on job training, and consists of two categories: medical and non medical attachments.
For both categories, confidentiality forms are signed; In addition, evaluation forms are filled, signed by the direct supervisor and stamped by the Education and Training Department. No certificates are issued.

Section IV : central  Library

DSFH Library is committed to supporting the hospital’s role focused on patient-centred care. We provide access to collections in a variety of formats, and information resources designed to meet the research and education needs of DSFH staff and students on clinical placement, and to facilitate decision-making in patient care.
