The Community Teaching Center (CTC) was established in May 2007 with the goal of providing patient focused, family-centered education to our patients and their families in order to promote positive changes in their knowledge, beliefs or behaviors and to ultimately improve their quality of life.
Many activities are conducted by the Center, including publishing educational brochures on common medical problems, celebrating national and international awareness days, one-to-one teaching sessions, auditorium group education, audiovisual lab facilities, patient library and conducting many patient groups teaching for example, for the females and for diabetic patients, as well as sharing in many community outreach programs.
Audio Visual Lab: Here audiovisual aids and internet resources are employed in the patient teaching process.
Patients’ Library: All visitors to our Center (patients, their families, community members and staff) are welcome to visit our library and to collect patient educational handouts and brochures for free.
Auditorium: For group teaching sessions for patients as well as interested groups of people.
Health Education Clinic: Learning about your health and understanding medical conditions can help you make informed decisions about your care and better cope with illness. It is our goal to promote the education, inquiry and well being of our patients and the world by providing the timeliest, appropriate and useful health information available.
Diabetic Education Clinic: Provides instruction and information about diabetes management, emphasizing the importance of individualized care and patient empowerment by teaching people how best to manage their condition. The center's programs focus on helping patients make more consistent and appropriate adjustments in their therapy and lifestyle.
They will teach you management skills, including:
- Blood glucose monitoring and how to handle sick days.
- How to treat your diabetes when traveling across time zones.
- How to recognize and treat low or high blood glucose.
- How to begin an intensive diabetes program or use an insulin pump and other new technologies.
Respiratory & Pediatric Education Clinic: Available in AIRS unit.
The educators will assist families in becoming more educated about their children medical condition.
Breastfeeding Clinic: In Mezzanine
Breastfeeding Support and Lactation Services program is committed to supporting new moms and families who choose to breastfeed their new infant. We have certified breastfeeding educators who offer breastfeeding education, counseling and support in order to make breastfeeding a rewarding experience for both mother and baby.
Location & Timings:
The center is located on the 1st Floor in Building 2.
Hours of operation are: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., every day with Friday being off.
All patients’ visit free of charge.
