DSFH has one of the largest pediatric departments in the Kingdom. The department is equipped with the latest medical technologies and is run by a 24-hour fully dedicated pediatric team to ensure the finest quality of medical care for pediatric patients.
Outpatient clinics and inpatient department: The pediatric outpatient clinics and inpatient department cover almost all pediatric disciplines and deal with both treatment and prevention.
Pediatric intensive care units (ICU): The pediatric intensive care units (ICU) provide tertiary care for all pediatric specialties with a 24-hour consulting service. The pediatric ICUs comprise the following sections:
- Neonatal ICU (NICU): has 30 cots with facilities to ventilate 9 babies.
- Pediatric ICU (PICU): has 20 beds for children of all ages.
- ICU isolation: cubicles with full facilities.
The nursery: The nursery comprises 50 cots and also provides 24 hour consulting services. Babies are examined twice a day for the duration of their stay in order to ensure early detection of any illnesses or complications. Routine audiology and thyroid screening is also performed.
Emergency Room (ER): The emergency room provides 24/7 care for all pediatric cases and includes facilities for cardio-respiratory intensive care as well as diagnostic radiology and comprehensive laboratory services. Also available is a short stay room, providing up to 6-hour care for patients with special circumstances.
