Cardiovascular and Thoracic Department
Established in 1986, the DSFH cardiovascular and thoracic department is one of the most reputed units in the Kingdom. It offers treatments for cardiac, thoracic and vascular diseases. In 1990, this department was the first in the Kingdom to perform a heart transplant operation.
The department is divided into five divisions:
- Cardiac surgery
- Thoracic surgery
- Vascular surgery
- Cardiac anesthesia, cardiac ICU
Our cardiology consultants are fully dedicated to their patients and are available 24 hours a day all year round.
The department is equipped with two open-heart theaters, two advanced catheter lab units as well as volume computed tomography (VCT). The VCT is a non-invasive procedure in which the machine can quickly capture incredibly sharp images of the moving heart and coronary arteries allowing more accurate diagnoses of vascular occlusion.
