Pharmacy Services Department

The Pharmacy Services, consistent with the values of DSFH, places a priority on patients and family, teamwork and never-ending improvement.

All pharmacy services activities proceed under the supervision of Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee.

All pharmacies procedures are based on and abide by JCIA, Australian and ARAMCO standards.


DSFH pharmaceutical services include:

Outpatient Pharmacy Services:

Two outpatient pharmacies (OP.1 & OP.2): Both pharmacies provide a 24 hour service. All pharmaceutical preparations are handled by well trained competent pharmacists.

Extra outpatient pharmacy (OP.3) was recently opened to serve Outpatients. DSFH Pharmacy also has OTC, Compounded pharmaceutical preparations in addition to cosmoceutical products available for self selection. Outpatient Pharmacists provide advice to patients on how to use their medications properly, and warn them about what they should and should not do when they are taking a particular prescription.

Inpatient Pharmacy Services: one centralized Inpatient pharmacy serves the admitted patients for 24 hours providing all prescribed medications as per the international accreditation standards for medications management.

Clinical pharmacist services: clinical pharmacists supervise the implementation of the hospital's pharmaceutical care plan. They also are responsible for collecting , investigating and analyzing any reports about medication errors and reported drug adverse events and provide recommendations when consulted by physicians. Total parental nutrition also is supervised by the clinical pharmacists.

Inpatient Pharmacy Services: An Inpatient pharmacy that serves the hospital for 24 hours to provide all hospitalized patients with their medications.

Inpatient pharmacy is responsible for dispensing medications daily for an average inpatient population of 400 patients. The Inpatient pharmacists as well as assistants work together to assure patients receive the highest quality pharmaceutical care.

Clinical pharmacists function as integral members of health care teams at DSFH, clinical pharmacists are working with physicians to achieve desired therapeutic outcomes, prevent or minimize drug-related problems, and improve medication use. Clinical pharmacists also practice in several of our Ambulatory Care Clinics.
